File X-Ray vs Jimpl

A photo metadata viewer and remover, focused on images, that works by uploading the photo.

Everything attributed to Jimpl below is a direct quote from its own site, linked and dated. Nothing here is our characterisation of their tool.

Where the file is processed

File X-Ray: In the browser tab. The file bytes are never sent anywhere.

“we only temporarily keep them on our servers on an encrypted storage to process them”

How long the file is kept

File X-Ray: It is never received, so there is nothing to keep or delete.

Who can see the file

File X-Ray: Nobody, including us. It does not leave the tab.

What else is recorded about you

File X-Ray: No account, no file log. Page views are counted by Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser; our CDN sees the same request data any site's does.

“log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages”
